Perfect partnership

In the fall 2019 semester, University of Minnesota Crookston lecturer Courtney Bergman was looking for a hands-on project for her Integrated Marketing Communication class. And H&S Manufacturing, which makes row-crop equipment for the sugar beet industry, was looking for some fresh ideas on how to attract new customers. 

It was a perfect partnership.

Students went on a site tour and met with senior leaders at H&S Manufacturing, then went back to campus to learn skills such as analyzing an unfamiliar industry, understanding a marketing budget, and researching current marketing trends.

After several months, students shared their suggestions with H&S leaders in a PowerPoint presentation. They covered ideas such as magazines, trade shows, radio, social media, website, and direct mail, and developed an integrated marketing plan that fit the company's budget.
