A student-run brand agency gives aspiring creatives on the Twin Cities campus real-world experience

Have you heard of the real-deal brand communications and strategy agency in the Twin Cities where none of the employees have college degrees? It’s not a joke.

Backpack is a student-run creative agency on the Twin Cities campus that offers services like content creation, storytelling, design, photography, and social media for departments across the College of Liberal Arts, as well as outside clients, including ServeMinnesota and the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.

Founded in 2014, Backpack gives students hands-on experience in the agency world, while also providing a unique connection between clients and their Gen Z audiences (people who are 25 and younger).

"Backpack gives insight to our client on how to connect with Gen Z," says Jocelyn Landwehr, a Backpack account manager and Twin Cities student. "We are young people, and we know the language of young people. We know what will grab people’s attention."

Watch the video below and find out why Landwehr says Backpack has "driven my entire college experience thus far."
